CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 39 calls from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9; some of which included:
- three 911 Act calls,
- one animal call,
- three breaches of peace,
- one criminal harassment,
- two disturbing the peace,
- three failing to comply with conditions,
- one fraud, two mischief,
- one offender management,
- one impaired operation of a motor vehicle,
- four suspicious persons,
- one theft,
- 10 traffic offenses,
- one Trespass Act call,
- one uttering threats,
- two vehicle collisions, and
- two wellbeing checks.
Suspicious bison death
On Oct. 7, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a call involving a dead bison in the RM of Preeceville. The caller believed that the bison had been shot. The Canora/Sturgis RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance with information concerning this crime.
Disputed dog urine
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 7 to a call in Buchanan. The caller reported their neighbour for harassment after letting their dog pee on the caller’s lawn. Police mediated the dispute and later determined the dog pee was not on the caller’s property.
Domestic disturbance
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a residence for a disturbance on Oct. 7. Police attended and learned a male and female had been arguing. Police mediated the dispute.
Loud power outage
On Oct. 5, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call about a loud bang and power going out to a residence. Police confirmed with SaskPower that the loud bang was associated to a power outage in Canora.
Dirt bike speeders
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 5 to multiple calls about youth speeding around Mikado on dirt bikes. Police made patrols and were able to locate the youth and educate both them and their parents about on the rules of operating dirt bikes.
