YORKTON - Sacred Heart High School hosted its annual senior boys’ volleyball tournament on Sept. 13-14.
The tournament consisted of eight teams: Sacred Heart, Keeseekoose, Langenburg, Melville, Sturgis, Esterhazy, Fort Qu’Appelle and Meath Park.
The tournament was a round robin format.
After the round robin matches, the Saints team went 8-6 putting them in fourth place going into the playoffs.
In the bronze match they faced off against Meath Park.
The Saints team came out strong dominating both sets winning 25-8 and 25-14.
In the gold match Esterhazy took the win defeating Melville 25-20, 17-25 and 15-8.
This was the first game action for the Saints team this season.
“The whole team made huge improvements throughout the tournament” said coach Curtis Moen in a release.
“Our MVP was middle hitter Emmanuel Adefolarin who put up some huge hits going over the competition’s blockers.
“Kai Cowan also led our power position with his hard hits from the outside.
“Most improved athlete goes to Sam Sheppard who not only continued his dominance at the net, but showed strong passing in our back row to keep the ball alive”.
Next game action for the Saints team is scheduled Sept. 20-21 when the team travels to Langenburg.
