Man charged following cattle theft in RM of Silverwood

14 calves were stolen from a farm over the course of three different incidents.

RM of SILVERWOOD - Moosomin RCMP are reporting a man has been charged following a cattle theft in the RM of Silverwood.  

On June 28, a Saskatchewan RCMP livestock investigator received a report from Livestock Services of Saskatchewan (LSS) about a potential suspicious livestock transaction. Moosomin RCMP began investigating, assisted by the Saskatchewan RCMP livestock investigator.

They determined that 14 calves had been stolen from a farm in the RM of Silverwood over the course of three different incidents. After investigating, they determined a man stole the calves and attempted to sell them. Seven calves have since been recovered and returned to the farm.

On July 12, a male suspect was arrested at a home near Whitewood, SK.

The 34 year old is charged with theft of cattle over $5,000; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and trafficking property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Moosomin on Aug. 20.
