Two arrested for murder on Saulteaux FN

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Lyle Night Jr. from Saulteaux First Nation.

SAULTEAUX FIRST NATION -  A man and a woman have been arrested after a death on Saulteaux First Nation.

RCMP say that on Jan. 2 at approximately 4:50 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an injured male at a residence on Saulteaux First Nation.

Officers located a seriously injured male, who was later pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 24-year-old Lyle Night Jr. from Saulteaux First Nation. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

The death was considered suspicious and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation.

Later that day, an adult male and an adult female were arrested at a residence on Saulteaux First Nation.

As a result of continued investigation, 20-year-old Brody Runningaround and 23-year-old Malyka Nahbexie are each charged with first-degree murder.

Brody Runningaround and Malyka Nahbexie are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 6.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continue to investigate.
