HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Collegiate Institute students will be learning from home after the end of spring break.
“Following further conversations with [Pubic] Health, considerations around operational feasibility, and out of an abundance of care and concern for our entire HCI community, we have determined that all classrooms at HCI will move to Learning from Home for the week of Monday, April 12 to Friday, April 16, inclusive,” said the Horizon School Division on an April 7 Facebook post.
COVID-19 diagnoses connected to the school were announced March 30, April 6 and April 7. The situation has been deemed an outbreak.
The division said they’ve been told by public health that the cases involved variants of concern.
According to the province, there are 15 COVID-19 cases in the Central East area – a large chunk of the province that includes Humboldt, Yorkton and Melville – that are the B.1.1.7 UK variant as of April 7.
