Arson charges laid after fire investigation on Dewdney

REGINA — One Regina man is facing charges after emergency services responded to a house fire on Dewdney Avenue on Sunday.

Regina Fire and Protective Services attended a reported fire at a residence on the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue on Feb. 27, where the basement was found to be one fire. 

One male individual was unable to get out of the home, due to physical challenges. Regina fire successfully rescued everyone inside the home when police arrived.

After investigation by the Regina Police Service, it was determined the fire had allegedly been set by another male suspect who reportedly fled southwards towards Mosaic Stadium. 

The suspect was identified by name during the investigation, and police arrested him without incident in the surrounding area. The 33-year-old Regina man has been charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life, in relation to the incident.

He appeared in provincial court on these charges today.
